The other months of the year from October to March, fall under the rainy season, which can be torrential in this part. The island is almost shut down during this season.

A bus from Kuala Lumpur takes 8-9 hrs to reach Kuala Terengganu. From there you need to get a car to reach Kuala Besut Jetty. Kuala Besut Jetty is from where you will get a ferry to Perhentian Island. 

A ferry is the only way to reach the island. The travel duration of the ferry to Perhentian Island is about 40 mins to one hour by speedboat. There will be 6-8 daily ferries on this route, operated by various ferry operators. Tickets for the ferry are available at the terminal.
