Terminal Bersepadu Selatan is one of the main bus terminals in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. Bandar Tasik Selatan (BTS) station is integrated with TBS, thus forming the TBS-BTS transportations hub. With 60 bus platforms, TBS is the source of bus services to many different states of Malaysia.

The transportation facilities at TBS came to a halt due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak. Now, as the risks of COVID-19 are decreasing, the Malaysian government is easing the travel restrictions. Inter-state bus services are also started at TBS, but only passengers with valid reasons are allowed to commute. You can get a Terminal Bersepadu Selatan ticket for an inter-state bus only after approval from the respective authorities.

The reasons for which passengers are allowed to travel to other states from TBS are as follows:

• The demise of any family member or relative.

• Critical health condition of a family member or relative.

• Urgent medical treatment for yourself or your family member.

• Any other valid reason which will be weighted by respected authorities.

The Malaysian government implemented the Movement Control Order (MCO) on the 18th of March, 2020 as a preventive measure in commuting against COVID-19. The MCO will be valid till the 31st of December, 2020. However, the Malaysian government has eased restrictions allowing local transportation. For inter-state travel, you will have to apply for a permit at the TBS bus station. There is a police beat-base established at the TBS-BTS in which your reason for inter-state travel will be weighted. The inter-state travel permit is compulsory for travelling to other states, and any violations will be treated as an offence against the MCO.

You will be required to fill a form at the police beat-base at TBS-BTS stating your whereabouts, the reason for travel, contact information, vehicle details, etc. The police will examine your details and will put a stamp on approval. You will get a tear-away piece of the form that can be checked at inter-state checkpoints. The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) is managing the inter-state travel permits and is a step in curbing the congestion post-COVID-19. The application form for a permit can also be obtained from your nearest police station. You can obtain the application form for an inter-state travel permit digitally from respective websites.

If you are thinking of travelling to any other state from the TBS bus station, make sure you follow preventive measures against the COVID-19 scenario. You should wear a mask & maintain your hand hygiene. You should also choose online ticketing platforms to book ticket bus TBS besides going to ticket counters. Ticket bus online TBS will save you from lurking in the crowd amidst the COVID-19 outbreak. redBus is the largest online bus ticket booking platform in the world & a lot of people trust it. You should also choose bus operators who sanitise their buses at proper intervals & adhere to the travel guidelines laid by the Malaysian government. Terminal Bersepadu Selatan online ticketing services are also promoted by the Malaysian government to curb the congestion at bus terminals.

The people who reside in areas that are under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) only need to apply for permits for inter-state travel. Kuala Lumpur was included under CMCO along with Selangor, Putrajaya. Passengers who need to pass through a CMCO area or arrive at a CMCO area also need a permit issued by the respected authorities. Only two members from a household with valid reasons are allowed to travel to a CMCO area. You can also go to a CMCO area for work purposes but have to produce a letter of authorisation from your company/firm in front of inspection authorities.

The Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) which was announced on the 28th of August, 2020, allowed inter-state travel in many states excluding a few. Selangor was placed under the CMCO for more days; thus, you have to obtain a permit for travelling to other states from the TBS bus station. The red zones which are vulnerable in becoming possible Covid-19 hotspots are placed under CMCO, and inter-state travel restrictions are applied. If you are involved in the delivery of essential goods/services, then you are allowed for inter-state travel like travel from KLIA2 to TBS, etc. You can check the police websites for the inter-state permit form which is required to book a Terminal Bersepadu Selatan ticket for inter-state buses.
